The Case Challenge is a joint initiative effort by AIESEC NTU and IEEE to create awareness regrading the environment issues to a greater level of understanding and promote green energy. The event, which is open to the public and targets
mainly the junior college, polytechnic and university students, aims to allow a deeper understanding of the approaches towards environmental issues globally and most importantly locally. This is done by presenting the efforts made in the various sectors in Singapore. As such, the event will see representatives from the various levels who will share with us the relationship between; the Government; the NGO; the private company and the environment. The insights will benefit all greatly as they bring together views and highlight efforts done by the various sectors of the industry. The audience will therefore be able to understand and appreciate the various schemes and practices that are implemented in these sectors. The event is a platform for views to be heard and discussed, which allows for a energetic and dynamic exchange regarding the environment issue.
The main highlight of the event will see 5 teams from the various tertiary institutions competing to prove their case that reflects the current environment situation regionally.
The participants will brainstorm on ideas pertaining to current energy issues and sustainable development. The exact case will be decided with the assistance of professors from the School of Humanities and Social Sciences and S. Rajaratnam School of International Studies.
The event is split into two rounds:
- Preliminary round: All the teams registered for the preliminary round would have to submit their case challenge based upon the case given to them. Five teams would be selected for the final round. This round will be conducted online through our website. All solutions will be submitted via the website and the finalists will be shortlisted by a panel of judges consisting of University's professors
- Final round: For the final round, there will be a separate, more specific case provided to the students. The students will be given 6 hours of preparation time and would not be allowed to communicate with anyone else, other than their team-mates. The preparation for the final case will be based on internet research and prior knowledge of the issue. The teams would then present their cases one by one, followed by a question & answer session of 5 minutes (for each team). The best team will be chosen by our panel of judges and will win SGD 1000.00 and sponsored gifts.
